Eiri Kurahashi, a student at art school and an employee at an antique store, is fixated on a peculiar object. The object in question is a portrait of a young Victorian girl named Cossette, which he finds enchanting. However, Eiri discovers that the disturbingly grim past of the portrait includes every owner meeting a gruesome death. Upon further investigation, Eiri learns an even more horrifying truth - Cossette was brutally murdered by the very artist who painted her haunting portrait. When the latest owner nearly succumbs to the same fate, Eiri decides to step in. This is when Cossette begins communicating with him...
